Be Concerned! If This Is The Colour of Your Vaginal Discharge

Every woman secretes the natural vaginal discharge which depends according to the days of the month. It happens due to the hormonal changes and the menstrual cycle. Although, being common and natural, sometimes the colour of the vaginal discharge can be a matter of concern. Is it white, yellow, brown or green, you should check and understand it well.

Get the knowledge and the understanding of your vaginal discharge here in this blog. According to the health experts, usually, every woman discharges white-coloured fluid which seems to be like white-powder in underwear after drying.

Other than the above, there are other six kinds of vaginal discharges that you may have in your day. Therefore, to know whether this is a normal discharge or not, understand what each means.

A clear white, wet and slippery discharge

It is a sign of ovulation, probably. You can notice this white and slippery discharge out of your body during the middle of your menstrual cycle. This is a natural way of body to make the fertilization process easier so that the sperm can slide into your vagina easily.

White, clumpy and itchy

This can be a sign of a yeast infection. Yeast infection is caused due to the overgrowth of a bacteria, named as Candida, which lives in the vagina for the natural protection of this sensitive area. This infection causes itching, swelling and irritation. Vaginal yeast infection is odourless and looks like a cottage cheese.

This infection can be caused due to several reasons –

  • The ‘too much’ intake of antibiotics as it decreases the numbers of good bacteria in the vagina.
  • Pregnancy
  • Unhealthy eating habits.
  • Hormonal imbalance while menstrual cycle.
  • Lack of sleep and stress.

Is it something like Yellowish-green?

If the colour of your vaginal discharge is yellowish-green, then it can be a symptom of a sexually transmitted infection called gonorrhoea. The discharge may also sting very bad like a rotten fish. On the other hand, many women do not exhibit any other symptom of this infection as well. After getting diagnosed, this infection can be cured easily by the medication, however, for a complete treatment purpose, both you and your partner should consult with the doctor.

If it is Greyish but thin with strong odor?

It may due to the bacterial imbalance in the vagina called Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). The odour would be foul – a fishlike smell. However, this infection is quite common for the women of age 15 to 44 years and it can be cured by the medications.

Frothy, foul and Tinged grey or green colour?

It is a most common yet curable sexually transmitted disease. It doesn’t show any other symptoms, but if left untreated it can lead to further complications. Therefore, it is important to cure this infection through a prescribed medicine, as it gets cured pretty quickly.

Pinkish, reddish or brown?

It is a kind of staining either at the time of ovulation or at the time of changing hormones. However, it is not a matter of concern. But if the discharge is persistently pinkish, reddish or brown, you should consult with your gynaecologist.
